We are looking for a Machine Learning Intern who is willing to tackle the challenges of big weather data at Buluttan Weather Intelligence. We're looking not only for summer interns, but also for our future full-time team members.

Company Overview

Founded in 2022, Buluttan is Türkiye’s first private meteorology company. We provide hyper-local weather intelligence to global leaders in energy, aviation, and logistics. Our mission is simple: take massive weather datasets and turn them into intelligent solutions like renewables production forecasts or risk alerts. We do love meteorology and would like to mix it with cutting edge technology.

We are also an official application partner of the WeatherGenerator, an EU Horizon project led by ECMWF, which aims to build a world-class foundation model of the Earth system.


Responsibilities

- Design and implement regression and classification algorithms to improve the accuracy of short-term weather forecasts, focusing on renewable energy and extreme weather.
- Deploy machine learning models to production, analyze and track their performance.
- Analyze and interpret spatially complex datasets related to numerical weather prediction (NWP) models, radar and satellite imagery, atmospheric and climate variables.
- Assist in the creation of data visualizations and dashboards to provide insights for internal and external stakeholders.


Qualifications

- 3rd or 4th (preferred) year student in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Meteorology, or any related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Git.
- Strong foundation in Machine Learning.
- Proven reputation of problem-solving techniques, attention to detail, stakeholder management, requirements gathering, and professional communication skills.
- Active use of AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate development.
- Full ownership & capability of managing responsibilities with minimal guidance.
- Intention to work full-time after graduation.


Nice to have

- Experience in working with ML models in production.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (Grafana, Tableau, Looker).
- Previous internship/work experience.
- Passion for meteorology.
- Kaggle Level Expert or Master.
- An active stance on climate change & sustainability.
