AI Business Analyst InternElihome LLC, Milan, Italy. Remote. Three months, autumn 2026.About the company and the projectThe Elihome Group is a global group of companies and a leader in the kitchen and home innovation industry, with over 30 years of experience driving excellence and innovation. Headquartered in the United States, with key offices in Italy and China, Elihome has built global partnerships with industry-leading appliance manufacturers and leading international brands, and built an extensive retail distribution worldwide. This autumn we are running a structured assessment over twelve weeks to find out where AI can create real, measurable value in our operations, and to choose one application worth investing in. The output is three ranked opportunities and a fully costed proof of concept plan for the top one. This is not a build project and nobody is training a model. The work is research, evidence and judgement. What does a process cost us today, what can the supplier market realistically deliver, and where do those two meet in a way that pays for itself. The roleYou own the business case. Your job is to establish what things cost the company today, work out what each proposed AI application would be worth if it worked, and put both in language a decision maker can act on. Every number in the final report traces back to you. What you will do• Carry your share of the general research load. In the first phase everyone on the team gathers data, which means desk research on the market, structured interviews with people inside and outside the company, and supplier conversations. The specialist split below is where you carry the most weight, not where your work stops.• Walk the company value chain, from demand through to the support given after a sale, and establish a baseline cost or time figure for each process. Without a baseline, any benefit claimed later is a story rather than a number.• Research the AI supplier market and produce a briefing on who supplies what, at which layer of the stack, and at what price.• Quantify the value at stake for each candidate opportunity, and write the reason in full for every candidate that gets cut.• Build the final business cases in investment language, including total cost of ownership rather than headline vendor pricing.• Write the strongest honest argument against our own recommendation, so the decision maker sees both sides before committing.• Present the numbers at the three project gates to an audience with no technical background and defend the assumptions behind them. What we are looking for• Current Bachelor or Master student in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Information Systems or a related field.• Comfortable building a cost model in a spreadsheet and defending every assumption inside it.• Able to research a market and tell the difference between marketing material and evidence.• Confident running an interview with someone more senior than you and steering it back when it drifts.• Clear written English. You write for one reader, the company decision maker, who is not technical.• The discipline to say a number is unknown rather than estimating it into existence.• Your university can support a remote internship placement.Nice to have• Coursework or work exposure in ecommerce, retail or supply chain.• Familiarity with business case methods such as total cost of ownership, payback period or net present value.• Basic data literacy in Excel or Python. You will not be building models, but you will need to read what the data work produces.• An interest in how AI is priced and sold, not only in what it can do.What you get out of it• Direct exposure to how a company actually decides where to spend money, not a side project parked away from the real work.• Real practice running structured interviews with people outside the company, from suppliers and vendors to teams doing similar work elsewhere, and learning how to get a straight answer out of a sales conversation.• Deliverables with your name on them that you can point to afterwards, plus a written reference and confirmation of hours for your university.• A team that wants your honest read on an idea, including when your honest read is that it will not work. Telling us that is exactly as valuable as finding the idea that does.Practical detailsFormat: Fully remote. The company is based in Milan, Italy.Duration: Three months, roughly 20 or 40 hours per week, flexible around your timetable.Start: Flexible, from September 2026, agreed with your university.Compensation: Depends on your experience and background, discussed individually. We can support this as an unpaid mandatory internship if that is what your university require.Language: All work and communication in English.Reports to: Sina Pourbahari, Project Lead, Elihome LLC.
