Freelea is a U.S.-based, fast-growing Fashion & Technology venture redefining the shopping experience for Gen Z customers. PulseDataLab is Freelea's Istanbul-based technology and operations center. Join us as a Marketplace Accounting Management Specialist and help ensure the accounting accuracy, compliance, and audit-readiness of Freelea's U.S. marketplace operations.
Role Focus
This role owns the accounting integrity of Freelea's U.S. marketplace ecosystem — from journal entries and general ledger accuracy to month-end close and audit documentation. Working closely with accounting, finance, and technology teams, you will ensure that marketplace transactions across sellers, creators, and internal teams are properly recorded, classified, and reconciled in accordance with accounting standards, while gaining hands-on experience with platforms like Mirakl, Adobe Commerce, NetSuite, Stripe, and Avalara.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and review journal entries for marketplace transactions, ensuring proper classification and GL accuracy.
• Own the month-end and year-end close cycle for marketplace-related accounts, meeting close calendar deadlines.
• Reconcile marketplace sub-ledgers against Mirakl, Adobe Commerce, Stripe Connect, and NetSuite, resolving discrepancies before close.
• Prepare account reconciliation schedules, close checklists, and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Maintain accounting treatment consistency for commissions, fees, revenue-sharing, and promotional accruals.
• Monitor and correct account-level discrepancies in seller balances, settlements, and refunds from an accounting (not payout-operations) standpoint.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements (working with Avalara), and internal control policies.
• Support internal and external audit requests with accurate, well-documented account records.
• Identify and help implement process improvements and automation to strengthen accounting controls as the marketplace scales.

Who We’re Looking For

• Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of accounting and finance fundamentals, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
• Interest in building a career in accounting and finance within a fast-paced, technology-driven business environment.
• Comfortable working with financial data, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, reporting timelines, and close-related deadlines.
• Comfortable using AI-powered tools to improve productivity, analysis, and reporting.
• Exposure to ERP systems such as NetSuite or marketplace platforms such as Mirakl is an advantage.
• Experience, coursework, or interest in e-commerce and marketplace finance is an advantage.
